Eat What You Want Day!

What and when is it?

Celebrate 'Eat What You Want' Day this 11th of May. Whether it be with friends and family or just treating yourself to your favourite meal(s), there is no right or wrong! With all the health food and diet fads coming and going every so often, people are left to critique their own bodies when in reality what is seen on things like social media and magazines are indeed altered to fit in with whatever the current 'beauty standards' are at the time. So sit back, relax and take time to enjoy your favourite foods without thinking too much.

The history

National Eat What You Want Day was created by Thomas and Ruth Roy to help people break away from the frustrating health and diet trends of our times, if for only one day, and just let go and enjoy life a little.

Why should you celebrate it?

Most nutritionists seem to agree that giving yourself a break every now and again can actually be good for both the body and the mind. Not everyone is born with a fast metabolism and in turn can become conscious about their body and weight. However, we all deserve to able to treat ourselves no matter what; thus National Eat What You Want Day is here to give freedom of choice when it comes to food!

How to celebrate and have fun

Celebrating this day is pretty self explanatory: You can eat whatever you want, when you want! From ice-cream for breakfast to pancakes for dinner, the options are unlimited. Here are some fun ways to spend the day:

  • Why not treat yourself to that posh restaurant you've been eyeing for a while? Spend the evening by feasting on your favourite delicacies and drinks.

  • Have a movie night with all your friends and family while munching on each others favourite meals and/or snacks from a local takeaway.

  • Let nostalgia take control and cook something you loved during your childhood.

  • If you have children, why not allow them to be in charge for once, even if it's just for a day? Let them decide what's on the menu!

How will you do it?
